Duncan Bouwer: Singing Teacher

The Joy of Singing

If you have never sung a great song, or held a note for a long time, supported your voice to sustain a nice flowing line, or sung a high note with every firbre of your body, you have not lived. No, this is not discrimination. Its just that singers experience something that other mere mortals can never understand. Each style has its own challenges and joys. One of my greatest joys (besides singing myself) is seeing a student develop and inhabit that thrillling space. If you want that, you're in the right place.

Singing is a mixture of different actions and intentions that have to happen simultaneously, but can only be taught separately, and so to ask "how long will it take to learn to sing?" is redundant. SUPPORT: This is a natural function of living. We require it for movement, speaking, breathing, but when it is added to a sustained  activity like singing, it often causes problems. yet, without it, it is hard to sing in tune, sustan a flowing line, sing higher (or even lower) and much more. PLACEMENT: This is the difference between sounding like a munchkin with a wired jaw and a singer. Takes a while to master. And there is more!
